Y’all, it is fucking hard to commit to anything resembling a commitment to posting on a blog/tumblr/whatthefuckever on a regular basis when your job keeps getting busier, and then, like a real asshole masochist, you decide to buy a co-op.

So yeah, that’s something that’s happening, and I’m super excited about it.

I finally managed to make Comic Boy (that’s my oh-so-adorable nickname for my boyfriend) look into buying instead of continuing to toss oodles of cash into the rental furnace in Manhattan. I can’t quite describe what the hell kind of whirlwind weekend it was, but we found a place in that one weekend. Actually, we found three, but we pretty much immediately lost one and the third choice, while a bit larger than the one we eventually made an offer on, was dark, dark, dark (back side of a large building for the win. Or loss.).

So we made an offer, it got accepted, contracted initiated, etc. And now we’re eking towards the finish line. I’m just ready for it to be done. As we are two design-challenged gays (when it comes to decorating, anyway), I intend to pester as many friends as possible about what the heck to do with this place. It must be cute. I demand cuteness!

This is what you see right now when you come in. Imagine the furniture is replaced by a hodge-podge (which is what we have right now) and the old lady chandelier you can sort of see is also gone (giving it to a friend), hopefully replaced by something modern and funky.

The kitchen. The current owner spiffily redid the appliances, we have nice stainless steel fridge, dishwasher, stove and even vent, but those cabinets! Jebus, they’re so 1980s trailer park (and I grew up in a trailer park in the 80s, thank you very much).

Plus, the horrid placement of the fridge just cuts off what would be a HUGE open room from the dining gallery into the kitchen and living room, so we’ll be doing something here to open it up (moving the fridge to the wall and getting an island, I’m hoping).
